Hi! As I am sitting here drinking my coffee and mentally preparing myself for a big day of work ahead, I realized that we need to update the blog before we jump into another project! Right now, it feels very exciting around here because there is SO MUCH happening and although there aren’t many pretty pictures to show any finished projects, that shouldn’t stop us from updating you.
OH! Remember how in the last post I wrote about how I so want to have Joanna Gaines’ vision, style sense, photographers, (possibly) soccer heading skills, and more? Wellllll, it just so happens that I picked up her magazine, Magnolia Journal, and guess what the topic of the issue was? Authenticity. She seems to have mastered the art of living authentically and ready for the crazy part? Ironically, it turns out, in order to be more like Joanna, I need to apparently be more like myself and less like Joanna. Wow.
That explanation was all really just an excuse for me to use a bunch of old photos that I took on my phone in this blog post, instead of going around the house right now and taking pictures with my actual camera. Joanna would not use iPhone pictures. Apparently, Carolyn would. Wait, maybe my authentic self is pretty lazy? What if my authentic self is actually super lazy and I haven’t been allowing myself to be exactly who I am supposed to be? I need to explore that…
Hi everyone! It’s been a while (an inexcusably long while, to be honest) but we are so excited to be back and ready to fill you in on everything that has been going on around this old home of ours! We thought that the beginning of the new year was a perfect time to pretend we didn’t abandon the blog for the last 4 months give you a recap of everything that has been going on around here that we mightttt have been neglecting to update you on. While we have made a fair amount of progress on our to-do list in recent months, we still have a long way to go and lots of design decisions that we would love your help with. We are going to break the progress down into smaller sections instead of doing one giant post, so we will start exactly where we left off.
As a refresher, we asked you to vote on which color we should paint the foundation of our house. The winner was white and we promptly got to work making your wishes come true. We ended up loving the way it turned out. You can judge the final product for yourself in the before and after pictures below.

Ok, so if you didn’t get the hint from the title of this post then here is your warning- this post is not going to be pretty. There are going to be pictures that are even uglier than usual because if we are being honest, this part of the renovation is not even a little bit beautiful. It’s kind of fun and it’s super exciting, but it is kind of terrible not nice to look at.
This morning, Ronan asked me why I was in a bad mood and I told him that I had been on Pinterest again. He needed no further explanation. Instagram and Pinterest and all the other beautiful social media outlets are awesome, but they can be daunting too. Right now, I am feeling like the day when I can take a picture of a room in this house and not wince is a longgggg way off. I can assure you that no one is going to be pinning the pictures I am about to post. However, we need your help with a decision and this is the best way to show you what we are working with. So, brace yourself because it’s about to get ugly.
